Meadow Bank is a small, friendly, family run Guest House situated in the picturesque village of Lorton. The bed and breakfast is close to Buttermere Cumbria, 8 miles from Keswick and 4 miles from the gem town of Cockermouth.
Guests can enjoy a spacious, relaxing garden enjoying a variety of birds and the red squirrels, which frequent the garden. Enjoy breathtaking views to Kirkfell and beyond. The evening sun as it sets in the west provides some stunning colours. The village of Lorton has various amenities within walking distance, including a village pub about 0.75 miles away, a Church and a village shop offering crafts, teas, coffees and snacks. Tennis courts are also nearby, if you enjoy a game. A short drive takes you to Crummock Water, Loweswater and Ennerdale Lakes, offering numerous walks and spectacular scenery. Buttermere Cumbria is also close for exploring. For the more energetic and adventurous, we are situated on the C to C cycle route and there are various cycle tracks in the Whinlatter forest. Secure bicycles storage is available if required, as are packed lunches. Christine offers a varied breakfast in her dining room, overlooking the garden with stunning views to Kirk Fell (full English, vegetarian or continental. Special diets can be catered for.
